Office-assigned team members spend at least 50% of their time in a given month in their local office. Software Engineer, Full Stack
Location: Budapest / Hungary
We're looking for engineers who excel at building innovative, scalable systems. At OpenMeter, you’ll work directly with the founders to design and develop our product’s technical architecture, enabling real-time usage metering and usage-based billing. Your work will impact both our backend services and the intuitive user interfaces that empower our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain both frontend and backend components of our usage metering platform.
- Collaborate with founders and cross-functional teams to define new features and shape the product roadmap.
- Implement high-performance, scalable microservices and APIs to support real-time billing and AI monetization.
- Build and optimize responsive, user-friendly interfaces using modern frameworks.
- Integrate cloud-native solutions and ensure overall system reliability, security, and scalability.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment processes to uphold high quality standards.
- Contribute to and lead open-source initiatives within the community.
Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Practical experience building scalable backend services (Go, Node.js, Rust, etc.).
- Practical experience building modern frontend applications (React, etc.).
- Proven track record delivering production systems at scale.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a startup environment.
- Contributions to Open Source projects.
- Familiarity with Cloud Native technologies, big data systems (e.g., ClickHouse), streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka), and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes).

Software Engineer, Backend
Location: Budapest / Hungary
At OpenMeter, our mission is to simplify and standardize usage-based billing and AI monetization. As a Backend Engineer, you'll work closely with our founders to architect and build robust, scalable backend services that process millions of events in real-time.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and maintain the core backend services that power our usage metering and billing systems.
- Design scalable APIs and microservices capable of processing millions of events per second in real-time.
- Collaborate with product, and engineering to define system requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Optimize database performance and ensure data integrity and security across distributed systems.
- Integrate seamlessly with third-party services (e.g., Stripe, CRMs) for billing, invoicing and analytics.
- Monitor system performance and proactively troubleshoot issues to maintain high availability.
- Implement best practices for DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud-native development.
Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Proven experience in building scalable backend services in Go.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver production systems at scale.
- Strong DevOps mindset with hands-on experience in CI/CD and automation.
