Plans are the core building blocks of your product catalog. They are a collection of rate cards that define the price and access of a feature. Plans can be assigned to customers by starting a subscription.

Collection of Rate Cards

A plan is a collection of rate cards where rate cards define the price and access to features. Plans can have multiple phases, each with their own rate cards. These phases can be used to create automatic time-based offering changes, like trials, reverse trials, ramp-up phases.

Example Plan

For example, a Pro plan for an imaginary AI product can look like this:

  • $99 per month for 1 Million AI Tokens
  • 10 GB storage included
  • SAML SSO included

In OpenMeter, you can define the following rate cards:

FeaturePriceEntitlement
AI Tokens$99/m1,000,000 /m
Storage$0/m10 GB /m
SAML SSO$0/mTrue

Plan Versioning

Plans are versioned to allow you to make changes without affecting running subscriptions. Each plan can have one published and one draft version. Editing already published plans will create a new draft version. Once you are ready, you can publish the draft version.

Subscriptions are bound to a specific version of the plan and can be migrated to a new version. Plan status can be one of the following:

  • Draft: The plan has not yet been published and can be edited.
  • Published: The plan is published and can be used in subscriptions.
  • Archived: The plan for new subscriptions is no longer available.
  • Deleted: The plan has been deleted and is no longer available.

Currency

Each plan can have one currency. All prices in the plan will be in the same currency. You can create a separate plan for each currency if you need to support multiple currencies.
