Subscription
OpenMeter Billing is currently in private preview - to request access.
Subscription is a binding between a customer and plans or rate cards. It defines the billing anchor, fees, feature access, and usage limits for the customer.
Customization
Subscription can be started from a plan, customized from a plan, or manually defined. When a subscription is started from a plan, the rate cards are automatically assigned.
Migration
A subscription can be migrated to a new version of the plan. This is useful when you are iterating on your pricing and packaging and want to move existing customers to a new version of the plan.
Phases
A subscription can have one or multiple time phases with different pricing and limits. For example, a subscription can have a trial phase with a discounted price and limited usage or a ramp-up phase with higher price and usage limits.
Statuses
A subscription can have one of the following statuses:
- Active: The subscription is active, and billing is ongoing.
- Inactive: The subscription is inactive, and billing has been paused.
- Cancelled: The subscription has been canceled and is no longer active.
Cancellation
A subscription can be canceled at any time. When a subscription is canceled, the billing stops. Subscriptions can be canceled immediately or at a future date.
Anchor
A subscription has a start date that defines the anchor of the intervals for the fees and entitlements.
